HP Themes Contest: another dose of Vox awesomeness.

Excellent post. You've got me thinking about turning out some original artwork banners - once upon a time I went to art college, so I have no excuses.

This post makes me wish I had design skillz. Yes, with a "z." LOVE your designs!

I'm so glad that you posted about the contest! You're probably the best person to talk about this stuff on Vox since you were such a fabulous winner!
How many entries can be submitted? I read the rules, but i didn't find that information
[this is good]
I'm glad you took the time to write this up! <3
Sounds like an exciting competition! I love your designs lauren and they always inspire me but I will have to sit this competition out since I'm not a USA Citizen. However I think I might be making a banner anyway since I feel my page needs a new layout ;)
I entered a couple of my banner but I ALREADY BLEW IT....my file sizes were too big and I didn't include the title line. I'm terrible with these Vox contest rules, if you remember back a while. :P

If you pardon me, I'm off to try to rectify the situation......

Thanks for posting this Lauren! I saw that LiveJournal did a post too (I am a paid member there). I also blogged on your post at my VOX too. ^^

I know you like kawaii stuff... Have you heard of Hello! Project? It's a group of Japanese girl groups that are so cute! You might have heard of Morning Musume and Berryz Bobo?

Many H!P VOX bloggers speak Japanese fluently and into kawaiiness big time! Someone I know from Hawaii called Morningberryz has done some awesome posts featuring the best of J-pop singers past and present. She has so much material from years back bought from Japan it is incredible.

Anyway, the point is I bet they could make some awesome banners with all the material and skillz they have! And you might find some interesting friends and knowledge with them too. :)

I am so blessed to have so many great friends, including you! <3

Oh, awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I've been pretty impressed with all of the banners that Vox has up to this point. A lot of times, I'll go, "Jeez, why didn't I think of that?" Haha. I guess that kind of thought process makes me appreciate what everyone here has to offer with creativity.

Have fun designing those banners!
Aw, thank you, Lilia! That means a lot coming from you. You're so well oriented (and talented) with design and photography, so hearing that means everything to me. =D
Yays! It's good to hear that you'll still be making a banner, even if it's for your blog. Just knowing that you're putting in that time and creativity to help support your blog and Vox shows how much our community comes together through inspiration. ^________^
Haha... Aw, Jay, I think the whole banner entry thing will iron itself out. Yeah, I remember what happened a while back, but hey, at least you can probably get things straightened out ahead of time for this contest. ^___^

There have been a few submissions for contests in the past that I realize something is wrong after I turn them in, yet I can't go back and fix the mistakes! Ugh, I always second guess myself, and I always have a good reason to.

Good luck with your banners. ^^ Let me know when you've posted the final ones!

Who are you?

Nice picture and banner of Yukimo

Thanks Lauren! I hope so. Oh well. Let the best banner win.

I have a few up there now. Some photo ones, some illustration ones. (Kind of relieved you're not eligible....I wouldn't have stood a chance. :P)
Thanks so much for the post, Mike. I went right over to your blog and read it. You say the nicest things all the time-- thank you so, so much. Hearing nice things like that makes me want to blog all time time, tee hee. ^///^

Another thankies for linking Morningberryz' blog and the video for me. I'll set aside some time and check those out tonight! *high five*
[c’est top]
Awww... it's totally true! <3

I do worry about overloading you with stuff, since you are so conscientious about following up on things.... And I fear a kawaii nuclear explosion if you two combine your kawaiiness! :P

Oh, Jamie. =p I know that it's been a while since I've written a post. I actually wrote a really long post and then decided against keeping it. A long time ago, I realized that every single post had to mean something special to me, and that one just didn't really fit in the flow of my blog up to this point.

I'm happy you like the Yukimo banner. I created it specifically for my Hamsters group here at Vox a while back, and it ended up becoming one of my favorite group banners. ^^ I think the photos of Yuki had something to do with it. She can make anything look good, heh.
Ooooh, exciting! I might have to try it out...
Those are lovely banners. Vox is a fun and exciting place for sure. The blog is so easy to use. I just wish they had a way to preview before publishing like LJ does.
I wish I had a good programme for making banners. I feel a little limited, but I do have some ideas. I love the beads one!
Great~ Thanks for posting. :) Btw, the Sanrio banner is really nice. I like it. :)
Great banners as usual Lauren, and I'll let you know if I enter any myself

Nah, never feel limited. I think we're so used to seeing a certain type of banner made with specific mediums that we don't really get a feel for other possibilities. That's why this contest is cool-- you can really put yourself out there. I'd love to see some of your ideas come to life sometime. ^o^ !
I've seen a lot of people request post previews around the Vox community. I've been a LiveJournal user for a while (not as much as of late), and I can definitely see how previews can come in handy.

I've come to form my own process of "previews" though, in case you're interested. I use the you (hidden) option a lot to create test posts. Once I feel that the post is perfect as far as content and design goes, I create an entirely new post to make public. It's a nice screening process that I've come to really appreciate and use pretty frequently.
That's a good idea. Another thing they need is emoticons. LOL! Maybe you can put some bugs in their ears.
