So this is Lamb, my newest Blythe. (Say hello!)
I wanted to dedicate a quick post to my new Blythe, Lamb. She just arrived yesterday, and I had a chance to take photos this morning-- I snatched up the few minutes before my shift started. I was really happy with the results. Her pale, pale complexion looks so beautiful against her baby pink hair. I've been waiting for a Blythe to be released with pink hair. Seeing the Prima Dolly Peach (the stock name for Lamb) release gave me the shivers, and I knew I had to have her in my dolly family.
Sadly, a Blythe as pretty as her means that I lose a lot of money at once. Lamb was totally worth it though!
Receiving a Blythe so pricey in the mail always makes me wary at first. I feel the pressure of having to take care of Lamb more than some of my other girls because of how rare she is. (Only 500 were made; she's an exclusive Blythe release.) I took a risk and decided to iron her hair straight as soon as I unpackaged her. I've had experience with ironing some of my other girls' hair so I didn't feel too nervous about this "attempt." And everything, thank goodness, turned out for the best. Lamb's hair looked better than the promotion photos released by CWC, and it was extremely fun to style. I couldn't be happier right now.
After cosntantly primping and looking at Lamb, I've discovered some little secrets about her. So far, I know that she's hapa (like her mommy!), only she's mixed with an Asian background (I'm not sure which one yet) and with a flower child background. *grin* I wanted her "ethnicity" to be unique, so I threw that flower child curveball into the mix. She may look shy, but she has an air of being chic about her.
I decided on "Lamb" for her name because of her soft features. I don't have a lot of girls that reflect as much grace as Lamb and Pigeon do, so I'm thinking that the fact that their names are related to pretty animals has something to do with why I chose them. I'd eventually like to have a photoshoot for both Blythes, but I'm waiting for the lighting to be better. (I hate forcing good photos out of a crappy day outside.)
And on completely different note, I'd like to express how excited I was about receiving the photo spot in the This Is Good box on the Home and Explore pages on Vox. I literally couldn't stop smiling. Little surprises like that make me giddy.

she's so pretty!! I'm getting my first Blythe soon and I can't wait. I'm trying to decide between "my best friend" and the new "save the animals". Have you done a lot of customizations? I'd like to try different makeup but I'm way to nervous to ever try rerooting the hair or anything. Any tips for buying my first one?
congrats on the front page.
Hugs
Thankies, Nicole. ^^ Have fun picking out your first Blythe. I think both of the girls you have in mind are great choices right now. If I were to choose between the two, I would go with Save the Animals. She reminds me of Margaret Meets Ladybug (which I think I mentioned in a the STA thread on TIB), only she has shorter hair-- which is just as sweet!
I've done some customizations in the past, but I never got that into it myself. I found that I didn't become as attached to the girls I customized compared to the girls that other people customized for me. *shrug* It's just a weird quirk with me, I guess. One customization that I've come to enjoy though is replacing eyechips in Blythes. It's a pretty easy process to go through, and I don't feel as much pressure if I mess up in some way.
Anyway... Back to tips on buying Blythes. ^__^ The first thing I'd do is figure out your price range. As long as you keep your wallet in mind, you should be good to go. Even if you have a more expensive Blythe in mind, you can always work towards getting her by saving up your money over time. It doesn't sound like STA is going to be a limited release (but I'm not sure), so that's a good sign. From what the MBF thread says, I don't think that stock girl will be difficult to get either. These releases are nice for once. CWC went through a period of time when all it released was limited and special edition Blythes. Blythe lovers went crazy!
If you want anymore tips, feel free to private message me, leave a comment or message me on AIM. I love helping out with Blythes. ^^
I think PDP's hair is supposed to be straighter, but with the packaging keeping her hair bundled up for a long period of time (including the shipping time), the hair tends to get crimped in weird ways. I really love straight hair on Blythes, so I made sure that Lamb's hair was just right. I'm so picky when it comes to my dolls. If one thing is out of place, my entire bonding experience with a Blythe can be ruined. I always have to tip-toe around the first few days a new girl arrives. ^__^
I'm so happy you like her name! "Lamb" immediately popped into my mind as soon as I saw her on the TIB forum and on Ebay. She's too gorgeous for words. I wish everyone could see Lamb in person. *sigh*
Thankies for the congrats. That really made my day. I've been on the TIG page a couple of times for my posts, and I've been hoping one of my photos gets on there for a while now. I feel like my life is now complete. *giggle*
circuscat- I really hope you get one or all of the girls you want. Too bad there aren't more photos of Cassis out there... I even felt a little weird about getting Peach for a while, because I couldn't really tell a lot about her from the promo pictures. After looking for pictures from people that bought her, I realized that it wasn't going to happen because of how rare she is. Grr, I'd love to see more photos of all the girls you mentioned, so get them soon! ^___~
Jeff- Thank you so much. It's been a good few days with Lamb arriving, the beautiful weather we're having here, and now getting my photo entered in the TIG box. *dances*
I love the dress the hair and the flower in it making it such a summertime love of her, the lips are perched as if holding a secret or waiting for a stolen kiss. Money doesn’t matter when it comes to such a thing of beauty that makes Lauren smile, money can’t buy you happiness but it sure can purchase moments of pleasure…Jamie
Oooh, so pretty! I would love a Blythe doll, but they are so pricey!
How exactly did you go about ironing her hair? I have a collectible doll from my childhood who's hair has see better days.
relishdress- I know! They're very expensive. I don't know how I've built up the Blythe family I have today, but I treasure all the girls I own.
A Blythe's hair is made out of saran, which is a type of plastic. Because it's plastic, you have to be extremely careful with any type of heat near it. I iron her hair by spreading out her hair on a surface (like an ironing board), in a fan shape. Then I put a damp towel over her hair, making sure that her hair is completely flat against the surface. I make sure the iron is on the lowest setting and gently press the iron onto the towel, making sure to not keep the iron in one spot too long.
Since the wet towel usually gets warm pretty fast, I have to keep running cold water over to make sure it stays damp. In between doing that and ironing the doll's hair, I comb out the hair to make it straight. Repeating this process as many times as necessary is will help increase the straightness of her hair.
I once spent an entire afternoon ironing one of my girl's hair. (I had put tight braids in it for a few weeks, and I wanted to get the crimps out.) She has the straightest hair on her stock doll I've ever seen, haha, and I love her because of how straight and pretty her hair is. It's nice because doll owners have more control over how straight their dolls' hair are-- more than they know!
If you have anymore questions, please ask. Like I've said before, I love helping people out with Blythes.
She must be one of the prettiest Blythes ever. I just love her colourings - she'll be the best fun to dress up.
Congrats on making the front page.
Congrats on the front page! Nice image.
milkdolly- I knew that Peach was pretty online, but I had no idea how beautiful she would be in person. I think a lot of Blythes are like that. ^_^ The flower was a nice touch. I was hoping to find a white one, but all I had were pink and purple flowers. I decided to stick with the pink theme, heh.
wedgeh- Thankies so much. That was such a sweet compliment. Lamb sends her thanks, too.
Her- Takara is coming out with some lovely Blythes these days. I'm very impressed with Lamb, and I've noticed that a lot of the other stock Blythes are just as nice to look at. I think the new face mold has something to do with it...
Amy- I like to spice up my posts with my dollies and other toys. After all, I have to live up to my Vox name: kawaii! Tee hee.
Kim- I was aiming for a more delicate Blythe. Plum is so tomboy-ish, and I thought throwing another graceful girl into the mix (along with Pigeon) would be nice for once.
Lexi- I really hope you can get a Blythe someday. Just one can change your life. Imagine what more than ten can do. =D
Congratulations with your new girl.
I'm so sad they're uber limited 'cause seeing her really confirms my gut's feeling about her, ah well, I guess it's savingtime for me ^__^
Isn't it amazing how they tell their stories when we unpack them... Not one Blythe has the same character although they may be the same type/release.
I guess it's the reason why I love them so much...
I'm excited to see photos from other people. Lamb would love to see photos of her sisters, heh.
I love each and every story that Blythes have to offer. You're right-- the stories give us even more reason to love them. *happy sigh*
Lynne- Thank you so much. =D Saving money for dollies is totally worth it. And thankies for the congrats. I was so happy about the feature... Squee!
I really want to get a PD Peach, and perhaps someday I can justify the cost (^^;) I'm really smitten with the Hello Kitty Pullip that's being released in October - have you seen her? I don't know if you follow Pullips, I can't remember (^^;)
I hope you get to have a PDP for yourself one day. I think you would fall completely in love with her if you saw her in person. That's how I felt when I first unpackaged Lamb. <3 *sigh*
I follow Pullips, but not as much as Blythes. Right now, I just have one Pullip, a Noir (named Hue). I've seen the photos of the Helly Kitty Pullip, and oh my goodness-- she is gorgeous. I can't wait to see photos of her from other people. If you get her, definitely let me know so I can check your photos out. ^___^ She is going to be such a hit with dolly and Hello Kitty lovers. Eee!
lalaranel- Lamb's pale complexion against her pink hair is what I fell for, too. I don't think I've had such a great combination of traits in a Blythe of mine yet-- not like Lamb, at least. *smile*
Pixie- Thankies so much, sweets. <3
Adri-Sun- I usually don't like the natural shine on stock Blythes, but I think it really works for some girls, PDP being one of them. I'm glad you like Lamb. ^0^
Zoe- I'm glad you like Lamb. There aren't a lot of photos of PDP around online, even on TIB. I'm trying to take and post as many photos of Lamb as I can so others can see what PDP looks like. And you're right-- she cost a small fortune: about $450 (not including the shipping). You can find her for around $370 now on Ebay now though. ^^
Lamb is absolutely beautiful and I'm happy you decided to throw down the cash on her. There have been many releases since your last Blythe purchase and none of them pulled at your heart like Peach. There was a reason you held off on other girls. Peach was in your future!!
