A lot of Blythe people are doing their dolls' favorite fifteen items on Flickr. I decided to do a photo for Plum! She has so many favorite things... It was difficult to fit even just fifteen of them into one shot. o_O

And actually, all the items in this photo are Plum's favorite clothes and accessories, not just the fifteen that are tagged on my Flickr. I cheated a little! But I only tagged fifteen of the items, haha. ^__^
I can't wait to take more photos of Plum in the outfit she's wearing right now. She's totally dressed for autumn and winter. I dressed her and Jinkies the other day and they look so cute next to each other. It's been super cloudy and rainy every day this week so there haven't really been any opportunities for me to go outside and get good lighting for photos. I was lucky I got a chance to jump outside for this quick photo today. In fact, I almost didn't get any shots in because the tiny dresses started getting blown away. x_____x Shawn stood outside with me and made sure it all stayed in order, tee hee.
My first thank you is to Celena. I have known Celena now for probably about two years. As mentioned in previous entries, we met through Livejournal's Mark Ryden community and instantly clicked. From that point on, we were able to share our love for vinyl toys, Blythes and other little kawaii loves. We've encouraged each other's hobbies so much that we have both helped introduce new passions to the bunch. I don't think I would have most of my vinyl army if it weren't for Celena's crazy database of vinyl information! The material part of our friendship is only a small layer of what I've really taken away from knowing Celena though.
Through the letters of toy talk, we also gained a very personal understanding of each other. I've been able to share parts of my life with Celena that I've never been able to talk about with friends that I've known my whole life. I know that I've only been able to talk to Celena once on the phone, but I consider her one of my best friends. I don't know anyone that has dealt with life with such a positive outlook, even through the horrible times, like Celena has over the years. She's taught me to rough out the bad times and to look forward to everything beautiful, cute and good. Just receiving a package from her in the mail makes me the happiest person ever. So when you read this, Celena, thank you. I just want you to know how much your thoughtfulness means to me.
Inside the package from Celena was a plethora of cuteness: Sanrio washcloths with pictures of Little Twin Stars and Hello Kitty on them, My Melody stationary, a Pandapple notepad, tons of candy, stickers, the cutest pair of Hello Kitty underwear (which I love with all my heart), and more. It was an explosion of color, and I wanted to eat it all up-- even the presents that weren't candy. ^__^ On top of the package was the cutest letter, which I've posted in this entry above. I think the letter speaks for itself.
(More photos of Celena's presents can be seen in my photo library here at Vox.)
Surprisingly enough, another package arrived on the same day! This leads to my next special thank you; it goes out to Brandy, a friend I've only known for a few months, yet somehow, we have also formed a strong friendship. Brandy and I met through Vox a few months ago. I'm pretty sure that our first shared interest was our love (and obsession) for Tokidoki. A few days/weeks after we started commenting at each other's Voxes, Brandy messaged me on AIM, and from there, our friendship took off. We were able to relate on a lot of parts of our lives-- stories of Filipino family experiences, hobbies that had to do with kawaii loves, and even simple relationship comparisons about our boyfriends really made me think that I had found another me somewhere out there in the world. After just a few talks, I realized I wanted to send her a little present. As soon as I told her this, Brandy jumped at the chance to send me something in return. Ironically enough, she sent out her package before I could, so she should still be expecting a bunch of gifts soon. (Never fear, hon, it's coming!)
Inside the package Brandy sent me, tons of goodies jumped out at me (literally): boxes of Pocky (a candy that I've come to love over the years), Yan Yan (a new candy that Brandy has introduced me to), suckers, seashells and sand in a little jar from where she lives, a pretty rock that has been smoothed over by waves, Sanrio cuties and so much more. I opened Brandy's package first that day, and I just couldn't believe how many presents were packed into the box. I just kept taking out more and more... Mom was standing nearby, and her eyes grew wider as I revealed more of the presents. It was so awesome!
On a little side note, I thought it was funny that Celena and Brandy's packages not only arrived on the same day, but each contained the little Pandapple stationary pad. It was so meant to be.
My thank yous don't stop at Celena and Brandy though. They're part of the huge lump of greatness that has been forming over the past few weeks.
My final thanks goes out to everyone who has given me support about my new job at Six Apart and my photography. Everyone has always been supportive about my photography, but over the past few months, I've been able to grow more as a photographer. I feel as though my experiences have led me to understand a lot more about the different aspects photography offers. Angles, composition, lighting and editing have all somewhat evolved for me over the past months. With your support, I've been able to gain a lot of perspective as to what I find beautiful and what other people like looking for in photos. It's wonderful knowing that I have support from all of you.
And of course, I also want to thank you for the private messages, comments, letters, messages on AIM and emails about my new job. I know that it's only a part-time job (which I forgot to mention in my entry), but it means a lot to me. Because of this position, I was able to gain perspective, yet again, for what I wanted to do with my life career-wise. I finally feel like I've accomplished something that means a lot to both me and everyone else here at Vox. So, thank you for all of your support and congrats. I love you! ^_____^
As a special thank you for helping me become confident in myself and making me so happy, I've been working on putting together a few banners for other Voxers to use. As some of you have already seen, I have posted them in several groups, including my Vox Banners group. Please feel free to use them for your own Voxes. Also, please don't hesitate to make requests. I'm always open to creating banners for friends (and people I don't know). Just give me an idea of what you're looking for and I'll try to make it happen. ^^ Listed below are some of the banners that I've made so far. More will follow over time.
For the last two or three days, I've been busy with making banners for friends, and it's been so much fun. I'm glad that I can help out with making Voxes look pretty for people. If you stumble across this entry of mine, make sure to check out my Banners group, which is located here. So far, over 100 people have joined, and banners are already being contributed to the group. It's wonderful to see so many Voxers coming together to help others. ^^
I'd like to let people know that I am available for helping people put together banners. I really love the idea of combining ideas and creativity with others. I think that will give me a good amount of experience for the future. If you want to see some banners that I've made for people, check out some of these Voxes: Kristin, Noir, and Phillip. Like I've mentioned before, I'm still learning and expanding my skills so expect great amounts of effort (and a little bit of luck) on my part, tee hee.
Other than keeping up with Voxers, I've been trying to keep Yukimo, my dwarf hamster, entertained. She's a feisty little thing, if I haven't mentioned that yet. Yukimo craves attention, and I swear, she strays from the norm when it comes to nocturnal creatures. She lives half of her life awake during the night as well as the day. (I think that waking Yuki up in the middle of the day to play with her when I first got her is probably the reason behind her weird sleeping habits. Oopsie.) I'm usually up until about 3 or 4 a.m., and Yukimo knows this. Even when I'm in another room, far away from her, I can hear thumping. She has learned that when she wants to get out of the cage (or wants attention), she has to make noise. In order to do this, she thrashes her small little body against the ceiling of one of her cage compartments. When I walk into the room, she looks up at me, pauses, and then continues to jump and bang her back on the cage to such an extent that she falls over on her back.
My little Yuki, I will admit, is one of the smartest and craziest little rodents I've ever come to own. (It's extremely difficult capturing her in a photo, for she's always moving. That's why I've deemed her "the photogenic blur." Yuki is a walking contradiction.) I think that's probably the reason I'm so in love with her. I know that a lot of what she does as far as daily habits go are mostly due to instinct for hamsters, but there's something a bit more edgy about the way Yukimo lives. If I were a hamster, I'd try to be as spunky as her.
I've never seen Shawn so affectionate for a pet before. I mean, he has two dogs, three cats, and several birds at his house, but I've never noticed huge doses of love shown towards them as much as he shows towards our sweetie. After a few weeks of having her, he warmed up considerably fast. Shawn would hold her (a big step for him), let her crawl on his arms, and then he would kiss her before he put her back in her cage. I think my heart stopped the first time I ever saw that. I think that's the first time I realized that, no, I don't know everything about Shawn. I think he's going to be a great father someday, hopefully, with me at his side.
I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day (it's a bit too commercial for my taste), but candy hearts are so colorful and the ones in our candy drawer at home were screaming for me to take photos of them. I'll go to Walgreens sometime and find some more vibrant candy to photograph soon. They'll be fun subjects for Vox banners.
I went shopping with Mom on Friday and, as always, I had fun. On our way out the door Mom told me, "You know, whoever said money doesn't buy happiness... Well, they're wrong." That can come across somewhat snotty or have some negative feeling attached to it if I don't think about it, but when I have it run through my mind a couple times, it really does make sense. Sure, I believe it's wrong to center life around money and material possessions, but let's face the facts of life here, people: money makes the world go 'round. I get happy by making other people happy, and that usually involves some present-giving. People get happy seeing friends and family through using money (with car rides, plane trips, etc.), and I'm no different. A little splurge here and there makes the simple times in life stand out... just like Friday. Mom and I have so much fun when we just go to the mall and do our own, special mom/daughter thing. I miss her so much of the year when I'm gone for school, even if she does get under my skin every now and then.
I don't think I've been to the mall in weeks so going there and having the luxury of splurging on some goodies is something to cling onto for the next few weeks. My favorite present is the large box of lip glosses that Mom bought me at Ulta, a very big (and very pretty) makeup store that just opened a little over a year ago. Not only does my new treasure look yummy with its amazing shades of pink and red, but it smells good, too-- just like chocolate. Our trip to the mall was even more fruitful than Ulta: chocolate (real chocolate, haha) and other sweets that remind me of autumn and Halloween, a toys book that has tons of beautiful pictures of vinyl toys, massage oils for Shawn and me (I can't live without the occasional massage), and other miscellaneous items. I hoarded all of my little treasures into a Victoria's Secret bag and have been taking them out, one by one, so I can take in their full yumminess.
My little pitstop at home that was supposed to be just three hours ended up being a weekend visit. Mom and Kathleen were thrilled. I was, too, because that meant more time with my piggies. Beth and I keep trying to reason with Mom about taking one of our guinea pigs with us to our apartment, but there's always a problem that comes up. Rodents are sensitive creatures and any little change can affect their health. We just don't want to chance it and cause an early death in our perfect family of piggies. We'll just have to deal with the distance for now.
I thought I'd share my random treasures with you-- photos of my book's art/toys, the candy that makes Halloween seem not so far away, and massage oils that are making me feel sleepy right now.
